Can you guess where we were today?

Socks

Elise, all of a sudden, is obssessed with socks. She wants to wear them all the time. So when we got ready to run some errands today, I attempted to take off the socks before putting on her sandals, but that got her so fired up! She just kept pointing to the socks, crying!
So, needless to say, here she is in a pair of Lola's bright green socks and her sandals. I have a feeling that I'm in for many years of fashion-related stubborness. And I couldn't be more proud.

Bad Mommy Day...

Today is one of those days I wish I do over. I was totally distracted because of some dinner party I was hosting and, therefore, spent most of the day trying to shoo the kids out from under my feet. My friend brought her kids over for a little bit, which helped, but that short time was their only entertainment for the day. My poor Lola gets the most of my frustrations because she's older. I feel so bad. This dinner party didn't have to be a big deal, but they were clients of Dan's, so I was out to impress. But lately, I feel like I'm putting so much priority into things that don't matter as much as my kids too. I feel like I need to refocus my energy...Mommy-time is super is important, I do realize that, but I also feel that I can stand to prioritize a bit better and maybe then I wouldn't get so impatient with the girls. Who are being...well...kids. And for such a short time, in the scheme of things....
Argh! I totally missed the Mommy 101 class. Maybe I slept in.

I know what you're thinking....

You're thinking that I'm just posting a cute video, hoping to masquerade the lack of any serious blogging.
And...er...perhaps you're right. It's just that, well, I've been really, really busy with office/house projects that went unfinished for way too long. I'm almost done and I will be back to full-fledged blogging once again.
Oh and, yah, my recent discovery of Facebook might have played a teensy, tiny role....

Updates

I can explain. I got a new computer. Really! I still haven't tried uploading photos from my pc to my new laptop or from my camera to the laptop. So, I'm lame.

Here's a bullet point rundown of what's new:
  • got a new laptop...a mac! I have coveted one forever. It's secondhand and I got a great deal on it. It's just lovely.
  • Saturday, we got a limo and went wine-tasting. Most of the wines were just so-so, but there were a few gems. All in all, a VERY fun day that ended with us at a waterslide park. I had never been to a waterpark before, but it was so amazingly fun! I felt like a kid!
  • Lola showed me a piece of paper on which she had been drawing. My jaw dropped when I saw it! She had drawn a sun and wrote in the middle S-U-N! Holy smokes, I did NOT know she knew how to spell sun! It now hangs out on our fridge door. My little girl is growing up fast!
  • Elise has a new hobby. She pretends to be a dog! She will crawl around on all fours, yipping and yapping. Here's the best part: when she gets to you, she starts licking you! It took me a while to piece it all together. I could not figure out for the life of me, why my 19 month old was obsessively licking my pant legs!
  • Elise is growing up too. She has started trying to sing songs that are familiar to her, like the ABC song. It's pretty cute.
  • pictures/video to follow soon!
  • I bought the girls each a new pair of shoes. They are identical because Lola just loves wearing the same thing as Elise. The shoes have lights that light up when they walk. This provided Elise with non-stop entertainment for a whole day...she tried to catch the lights as she walked! Too funny!!!

Beach Day!

Today was a beach day...it was supposed to be yesterday, but I ended up working on some loose ends that really needed to get tied up. I was getting so much done that I didn't stop until it was too late to go. Lola had a martial arts class at 5:30 and there was no way it would have been worth it to try to go and come back in time. So I promised we could go today instead.

I have a low, low tolerance for the beach. I know I should love it, but I just don't. It's not that it's not fun, it's the hassle. And the sand. Oh, how I don't like the sand everywhere.
Elise is at a tough age right now...she wanted to just run headfirst into the waves and got pissed off everytime I would try to hold her hand or hold her body when the waves would crash in. It didn't help that the lifeguards kept warning us about the rip current every few minutes. I felt like I didn't have enough eyes and hands while we were in the water. I finally convinced the kids that ice cream at home was way more appealing than the beach.
We're planning to go again for a friend's get-together on Saturday too, but this time Dan will be with me and I think the beach we're going to will probably have calmer waters than this today.
